Peer to Peer

Peer-to-Peer is a FREE 10-week recovery education course that offers a holistic approach to recovery. This course allows individuals diagnosed with a mental illness to share experiences and gain further insight into their mental health.

Group Discussion

With our organization’s mission always in mind, we strive to find new strategies for dealing with challenges presented by mental illness.  Regardless of ethnicity, race, gender, age, or socio-economic level, we are here to serve the community and fight against stigma associated with mental illness.  NAMI DeKalb is working each and every day to make a positive impact.  Contact us to learn more about our commitment in DeKalb communities.

Currently, all Classes are conducted over Zoom. While we all miss the direct human connection of in-person classes, we've discovered an interesting advantage of Zoom Classes: multiple family members in many various locations can attend the same on-line Class, and thus share learning that will support their shared loved one.

Smiling Volunteers

NAMI Basics is a free, 6-session education program for parents, guardians and other family who provide care for youth (age 22 or younger) who are experiencing mental health symptoms. NAMI Basics is offered in a group setting so you can connect with other people in person.

Family to Family

One of NAMI’s cornerstone programs is Family-to-Family. The NAMI Family-to-Family Education Program is a 8-week course for family members and caregivers of individuals with mental illnesses. The course is taught by trained family members with the instruction and course materials offered FREE to class participants.

NAMI DeKalb generally offers the Family to Family Class 4 times a year, Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall. We try to vary the time of day and day of week. Usually we try to schedule two weeknight evening class series, one Saturday morning class series, and one Sunday afternoon class series each year. Scheduling depends on Teacher availability. There's never any charge for NAMI Classes.
